Press Conference for Listen to My HeArt Charity Art Exhibition

11 March 2014 was the pre-event press conference day for the Listen to My HeArt charity art exhibition. MARCHES was very proud to have Penang State Assemblywoman,YB Yap Soo Huey, Ms. Sylvain Yong, the director of the Yune Art Centre (event collaborator) and Ms. Khor Tze Ming, the director of Hunza Properties Berhad Group to be present at the conference. The event was also attended by little artists whose paintings would appear in the coming art exhibition. The on-site painting performed by these talented artists with autism was the limelight of the event.

Listen to My HeArt Charity Art Exhibition

23 March 2014 was the launching of the Listen to My HeArt charity art exhibition by MARCHES. It was an exhibition of 100 painting from individuals with autism. Thanks to the event collaborator, the Yune Art Centre as the curator of this beautiful event. Thanks also to the venue sponsor, the Gurney Paragon in providing the exhibition a vintage and elegant space. 50 paintings was sold during this event and MARCHES extends heartfelt gratitude to the well wisher.

Autism Awareness Month Art Exhibition

MARCHES has participated in the Autism Awareness Month Campaign in April 2014, hosted by the LohGuanLye SPECIALISTS CENTRE, Penang. MARCHES exhibited paintings from individuals with autism.

Teacher Talk Training Workshop

On 17 May 2014, MARCHES has organized a workshop for preschool teachers. The workshop aimed to encourage language development in early childhood setting. Teachers learned effective ways to communicate with both typically developing and special needs children. This workshop was a collaboration project with the School of Education Studies, University Science of Malaysia. MARCHES was excited to have Mr. Lee Kong Meng, a HanenProgramme Certified speech-language pathologist  to deliver the workshop.

O My Georgetown (OMG): Penang's 1st Books, Arts and Crafts Fair

From 23 May through 1 June 2014, MARCHES was invited to participate in the Penang’s 1st Books, Arts and Crafts Fair organized by Epicon Events and LeoBooksat the Island Plaza, Penang. MARCHES exhibited the collection of paintings from individuals with autism as an endeavor to promote autism awareness in the community.

Teacher Talk Training Workshop

A very kind hearted ENT surgeon, Dr. Lim Seh Guan has generously donated durian from his orchard to MARCHES for a charity sale on three occasions. The first two durian sales were held on 26 May and 4 July, to the staff of the LohGuanLye SPECIALISTS CENTRE. Thanks for the very warmhearted durian fans in the specialists centre, the durians were sold out in 30 minutes! RM285 and RM553 were raised respectively during the two sales, bravo!

The third sale wasan ‘Eat All You Can’ durian feast tour to Dr. Lim’s orchard, on 26 May 2014, following the Asia Pacific ORL Conference 2014. A group of ENT specialists attending the conference was proudly sponsored by ME-DEL, a cochlear implant company, to enjoy the durian tour. This event has successfully raised RM500 to MARCHES, bravo again!

 

MASH AGM- Better Hearing and Speech Forum 2014

In conjunction with the AGM of the Malaysian Association of Speech-Language and Hearing (MASH), MARCHES co-organized the ‘Better Hearing and Speech Forum’ on 31 May 2014 at the Auditorium of LohGuanLye SPECIALISTS CENTRE. The forum had invited a panel of specialists to share their knowledge on communication difficulties.

March with Us Charity Carnival

On 6 July 2014, the Han Chiang College Year III Public Relation undergraduates havecollaborated with MARCHES in organizing a stunning charity carnival at the Times Square, Penang. This spectacular event had a series of exciting and kids friendly programmes including colouring contest, poster design contest, lucky draw,telematch, Penang MiniEscape games and Urban Playground. MARCHES participated in this carnival by exhibiting a collection of paintings from individuals with autism, hosting the ‘Experiencing autism station games’ and providing free speech-language and hearing consultation. The event was a huge successful and raised RM15800 for MARCHES, big THANKS to Han Chiang College!

Introduction to Speech Therapy

Penang Down Syndrome Association

On 28 June 2014, MARCHES delivered a talk on “Introduction to speech therapy” to parents at the Penang Down Syndrome Association. The talk aimed to inform parents about the nature of speech therapy and how parents can promote communication and language skills in their children. 

Learning Math through My Senses

MARCHES was proud to have Dr. TidaTubpunto share with us useful strategies in helping children with special needs to learn mathematics. Heartfelt thanks to the Wawasan Open University in hosting the event at the Allied Health Centre of Excellence (AhCoe).

Early Intervention Carnival

MARCHES was invited to participate in the Early Intervention Carnival organized by AlorSetar General Hospital to promote early detection and intervention that is crucial to minimise the impact of hearing and/or speech-language problems.

LISTEN: Charity Music Concert

A charity concert was co-organized with Sin Chew Daily in aid of individuals with speech-hearing difficulties. The concert also aimed to promote talents in individuals with special needs.

Hearing Rehabilitation Workshop

MARCHES co-organized with ME-DEL, The Malaysian Association of Speech-Language and Hearing and the Loh Guan Lye Specialist Centre, a skill-transfer workshop for the professionals on hearing rehabilitation. Part of the registration fees were donated to MARCHES.
